A Night as a VIP @ The Turf

Last Friday, we were invited to the VIP lounge @ the turf club as our friend's horse was in a race that night. It was my first time stepping into the turf club, not to mention the exclusive area where the line drawn between the 'high society' and 'commoners' was so damn bold and thick. Dress code was office attire. Had a buffet dinner (food was so-so only) there and watched races from the galleria. See the difference in the pictures below:

Placed a couple of bets (minimum $5) and I was very excited when my horseS were in the first few positions till they pong-jek at the end of the raceS.. all plural coz it happened twice. -_-" Then it was my fren's horse's turn next, so we went to the viewing gallery to watch the about-to-race-horses' parade. Basically they will walk in a circle where the punters watch, evaluate and bet. Difference was, we were right outside the stables while the punters were in designated seats.

Then when the race was about to begin, we were brought to a cordoned area to watch (we were on an elevated platform behind the crowd you see in the 2nd picture above).

Then the race begun.. though 'our' horse had a jerky start, it won!!! It was a really exciting and close fight; ultimately we won by a nose haha! We were all cheering and screaming with everyone else. We then went to the podium to take a picture with the horse and the jockey, and then later whisked to another private room for the champange popping ceremony. Damn cool huh!

Overall, it was really quite an experience, especially with the special privileges we had and the winning moments definitely.

我的欧洲明信片

Beautiful memories they are, but I do not miss these places... as much as the 552hours spent there. A pair of explorers leaving the world we know and entering a total alien zone, happily leaving our footsteps everywhere. Sometimes I think it's a blessing in disguise that I lost my handphone at the beginning of our adventure haha...

Looking forward to many many happy trips together. 加油!!

下一站, 香港? 台湾? 幸福?

Err.... gosh.

Where Did February Go?

This is ironic, considering my earlier post ha.

Can't 找回 and 挽回 February 2010 anymore, but I strive towards and look forward to a better March, and so forth.

"Stay positive and things will naturally come your way."

I might be rolled-eye-at or charged copyright fees for this, but I do agree.

So good news will come soon!

I Give Negative Vibes?

I'm quite a frank person. Especially so to my close/loved ones. (Don't you already know?)

I will give my comments/opinions outright (when asked or during conversations), but I dare say I do know when to be tactful and when I don't have to. Then there's another side-dish of when I'm joking or purely talking nonsense or not. Add in another dash of mood and perceptions, and you are beginning to get confused, but I shan't bother to explain any further.

When I think someone deserves to be praised or complimented, why not? Encouragement and support too. I do not lack in that department, no? I am definitely not one of those super-ego-boosters. To me they are almost boot-licking and so over-the-top, and it's puke-inducing. Worst when they made the boots grow wings.

So, I don't agree that I give negative vibes. or rather negative all the time. If those passing remarks have stung you in one way or another (which I am totally unaware/unintentional of), I shall keep them to myself from now on.. If you can't stomach my comments/opinions, then don't ask for any too.. Coz I just can't go 'Ohh, what a nice top!' when it really looked like shit.

It's February Already..

Was gonna say 'that's fast' but thought again, was it that fast? Actually quite normal pace for me.. nothing exciting, nothing new so far.

Time to look forward to CNY for the usual gatherings, feasting and gambling sessions. After that it's gonna be a PH-drought till April.

My frustration is snowballing almost daily. Not healthy. Haiz.

It's a Monday today.

Anyway.

We've bought tix already!

Resort World Sentosa & Universal Studios Singapore

Woohoo~~~ Yours Truly was one of the privileged group who had a free tour at RWS and USS. 1st stop was the casino. To me, it was quite huge and nice! Haven't been to any other casinos except for Genting's, my colleagues told me comparatively ours is quite big. Anyway, everything was damn new of course, and the croupiers were all sitting around, taking turns to 'serve' each other. They all looked quite young to me though. Not allowed to take pics inside, so be satisfied with these: Next stop, we headed to Universal Studios Singapore! Weather was scorching and I sorely wished I'd my sunglasses or cap with me. Works are still going on here and there in the whole park. Basically there were Madagascar, Shrek, WaterWorld, Jurassic Park, Battlestar Galatica, Revenge of the Mummy, etc. Too bad we weren't allowed to take the rides coz they were all undergoing testings. Could only stand (closer) and drool at the roller coasters! The rides @ Jurassic Park and Revenge of the Mummy should be be fun too. Here's a sneak preview!

Can't wait for it to open! When? Here's what our tour leader had to say:

Tour Leader: Any other questions before we end our session?
Colleague: When is it going to open?
Tour Leader: That's a very good question. Next question please!

=)

A (Very Early) Surprise Valentine's Dinner

Went to Daidomon, a Japanese restaurant which No.10 came across and got attracted by the wagyu beef that they serve as part of their buffet spread. It's situated at United Square, and the owner is a Japanese who looks mid-30ish.

It's quite a small setup but kindda cosy. You could order either ala carte dishes or go for the buffet spread (check out the prices @ the website). SO! We ordered a whole list of beef, along with oysters, scallops, ebi tempura, sashimi, fish, chicken, etc. Can't possibly grill green vegetables and I don't like salad (which was available at the bar), so it was really meat-overload. But I thought the beef and other meats were quite well-marinated and tasted quite nice. Very fresh food too. Service wise was ok, except for some mixed-ups - they kept serving us food that had already been served. Oh, and they will keep changing the grill for you, which I think is good.

No Sense

Sometimes i rattle/spout/grumble/joke nonsense. What does nonsense mean?

Nonsense = No Sense

Makes people laugh yet gets me into trouble at times.

Don't read too much into it. Even though sometimes it ain't funny.

My nonsense could be the same as your not-funny jokes.

I fucking hate Sunday nites and Mondays.

I really do.

回顾2009, 向2010前进.

This is such a super belated 1st post of 2010 ha.. Happy New Year!

New Year's eve, was at friend's place for bbq. Old liao, nowadays such celebrations oso dun wana go kuek shio with people. Rather spend it somewhere quietly without minus-ing the fun. Had Irritants' 1st dinner of 2010 @ 313 Somerset... it's been yeeeeons since so many of us came out together! It's a farewell dinner for our dear Ah-Gu too.. Dined at Marche, followed by self-inviting ourselves to Mr & Mrs Vintage's new abode. Played Band Hero and it was so much fun! Hope this is the 1st of many such gatherings to come in 2010 and beyond. P.s. how about going back to the court together too? =)

OK. Supposed to 回顾 2009... 'Highlights' of Yours Truly's life in 2009...

1. Me & No.10's Europe Trip 23July-15August

Definitely 1 of the biggest highlight of the year.. prob coz it's my farthest and most expensive trip as well haha.. Left our footprints on London, Zurich, Interlaken, Venice, Rome, Florence, Nice and Paris.. My fave was definitely Nice and Interlaken. Had a great time relaxing at the pebble-beach, simply love the B&B lifestyle - Breakfast & Beach. 'Scaled' the top of Europe - Jungfraujoch in Interlaken, tried the Gondola, embarking on our own Angels & Demons tour in Rome, climbed Eiffel Tower, fufilling my childhood fantasy @ Disneyland, travelling via rail and not missing a single train, taking the plane alone for 12 hours, etc...It was an enriching experience to plan everything ourselves and of coz, to go through this whole adventure together. Looking forward to more n more n more of such trips in days to come.. Our chapters this year were kindda a roller coaster..am happy that he managed to get his degree and cleared his target after all the hard work and challenges. Every flip of the page adds to the continuation of our story ahead.. keep flippin! (chim eh, haha)

2. I can't help but mention this next haha.. the many many MANY wedding dinners that I attended! I really cannot count how many in total, but definitely more than 10 in the whole year. Last quarter alone, there were at least 6-8. Happy for my friends of coz... just a little taxing on my pocket haha.. esp when I've already spent a bomb on my trip. IF I ever get married, please remember to add the inflation rate by then k haha! This year should be quite a quiet one ba hee..

3. Watching F1 live. 3 days of high-speed action not to mention the high-pitched screechings of the tyres. Oh, and going great crazy like a sec sch kid when watching Backstreet Boys haha... It was a great experience but I guess once is enuff ha.

4. Moving to Senoko. Being banished from the posh uptown to the miserable exile is no fun. Long and tiring travelling and limited choices of food. It's been 1 year already, though more or less resigned to fate but the feeling is still sucky. I really hate to have to depend on my colleagues for lifts to/fro home. Or having to seek 'refuge'. Really wish to get back to town soon.

5. My very extravagant birthday dinner, the most expensive meal I've ever eaten in my life and my still-new toy.

6. Blacking out in the mrt during peak hour... enuff said.

7. My brother 阿乐's enlistment, the first of ninja-turtle to wed and of coz, the welcoming of cutie-pie-baby 宇泽 to Earth.

Many other bits and pieces here and there as well... happy moments, heart-pain moments, gloomy moments, blissful & heart-warming moments, etc.. That's my 2009.

Resolution for 2010? I've long given up of making resolutions haha.. Make and forget, no point. Hee.. Anyhows, I just wish to lead a simple life, be happy and healthy and the same goes for all my family and friends. Duno what lies ahead, one step at a time.
