2009 F1 Singapore Grand Prix

After months of waiting, my F1 weekend zoomed past just like that. Literally.

Took half day on Friday to catch the practice sessions which started at 3pm. My seat was at the Marina Bay Grandstand but we could walk around most of the area, except the super atas zone. Pros and Cons; Could watch the cars more upclose when walking around but only bummer was no screen to watch. Could watch the screen from our seat but not so much of the live action. Unless you take the loud shrills as 'live action' into account. It was really really ear-piercing. Thought I could tahan it initially, but after a while cannot take it and purchased the survival kit which consisted of a poncho n a pair of ear plugs. $2 for charity, why not. But the ear plugs really sucks. In the end we bought another pair from the convenience store at $3. 一分钱一分货.

Practice session was nothing much. The most exciting part was probably the part where a Renault car crashed into the wall right infront of our grandstand. The crowd actually cheered! Gosh... haha! Then everyone swarmed to take pics of the dejected looking Romain Grosjean and his wreck. The same spot as fellow racer - Nelson Piquet's infamous crash. How freaky is that!

Qualifying day was quite alright. We skipped the Aston Martins and Porsche sessions coz they were nothing much, more interested in the race at night. Kindda exciting but nothing beats the actual race night. The crowd, atmosphere and weather were at their best. Past 2 nites were quite hazy and damn humid, but it was quite clear and windy on the race night. Spectators were spontaneous and high-spirited (and some too high from their Tigers), esp the ang mohs, which by the way made up at least 50% of the crowd I think. And for the first time, I was super glad that our weather agency had made superbly WRONG predictions, that there will be thunderstorms throughout all 3 nites. Contrary to what I'd thought earlier, I actually do not have much of a chance to: - watch the cars zoom past. watch the screen and wait. watch them zoom past again. And wait again. etc., coz they were really fast! Not much of time gaps at all. It was a close fight for the last few cars while there was no competition for Hamilton all the way.

Left a few rounds before the race ended, as the winners were more or less confirmed. But more importantly, I wanted to catch Backstreet Boys at the Padang! I liked them a lot during sec sch time and I tell you... I was like a complete sec sch fan screaming, singing and dancing away amongst the huge crowd. Everyone was so high! And it was really great to listen to their songs again, much less listen to them live.

Overall, it was a great experience and our country's night scene really looks beautiful. If I were to watch again next year, I'll probably just go for the Race night... coz "Nothing else comes close".

Babblings before the long weekend

I find myself whining a lot recently about work, to the extent that I'm very irritated by myself. That's serious. Have to really decide what I want.

Go catch The Ugly Truth. Other than Gerard Butler being a total crude yet sexy dish, the female lead Katherine Heigl portrayed a natural and funny 败犬 as well. Finally there's a show demonstrating the hush-puppiness of men instead of the so-you-think-you-are-so-smart-and-great-in-hooking-up-women antics that are so ohhhh sooooo...... yawn-inducing. Full of laughs and no boringness, highly recommended. ;p

It's not your sole battle. I will fight it with you.

F1 next week! A bit of the know-yet-duno what to expect feeling. Hope it will be fun! Last nite we passed by that stretch of very-brightly-lit road along the esplanade, wah, seems like some cars think they are rehearsing for the race, at the rate they are zooming.

Last nite @ Popeyes' was fun! Esp the video recording part. Hope what our scenes will not be cut heh heh.. esp those of our hyper mama.

Last but not least... hope my long weekend will start well, from Tonite.

Enjoy your long weekend!

Last Month's Today, I Just Reached London.

Gosh, 光阴似箭, 日月如梭, can't believe how time zooms. Happened to look at the calendar then I realised I touched down at London exactly a month ago. Flashing back, my whole holiday seemed like a dream...

Still cannot get my frozen engine started. And am still trying to upload the remaining of my 3000s photos onto facebook.

Talk about recapping my trip here haha... Don't know how long it's gonna take!

Home Sweet Home

I'm Bacccccccck!!!!! Touched down at 1705hrs on 15 Aug. Though I felt 舍不得 to come back initially, I was real real happy to plonk my feet on my homeland. I kept saying "Welcome to Singapore" to no one in particular when I was really happily making the announcement to all the ang mohs around us (???) haha! Easy-breezy-peasy to get through our customs via the self-auto-clearance machines.

My mum and sibs came to fetch me, came home to put my stuff and went out again to replace my SIM card. Please sms me your numbers can? I can't remember everybody's =p. Had Ya Kun French toast set which came with 2 half-boiled eggs, french toast (???) and a cup of tea, and hokkien mee and tao suan straight after that haha... SOOoooo craving for local food!!! I want to eat chicken rice, zi char, bbq stingray, fishball, ba chor and watever noodles, etc.!!! NO pasta, pizza, FRENCH FRIES, GREEN PEAS, Mac and all things western for at least a month!

Lots to update for the rest of the cities and have to slowly upload the 1000s of pictures too. Due to certain reasons, no internet access for moi towards the later part of my trip. Might take a while to slowly recap hee.

Hope to see all of you soon!!!! =)

Switz!

28 July:

I lurrrrrve the weather here in Zurich! Sunny yet cool in the day (but not so cold as London) and temperature was just nice at night.

Journey from London to Zurich entailed an earliest bus from the apartment we stayed, then an earliest train to Luton Airport, the 1hr20mins flight to Zurich and then a tram ride to our hotel. Took us about 10 hours... Reached our hostel at about 12pm but check-in time was 2pm. So we left our bags at the recep and went round to explore.

Took the tram again to the town area and roamed around. The tram lines are pretty well-connected and convenient. Earlier, we bought the day-pass at the airport. However, we noticed there's like no machine for us to swipe the card or anything. It was only later when a local told us conductors will come onboard to check the passes on n off. So it's almost like based on good faith that people had actually purchased tickets. Interesting. Imagine such a system in SG. Where got possible.

At Old Town, cafes and restaurants are everywhere. And strip clubs too haha. Had lunch at a chinese restaurant and we were served by this cute young hongkie who was there for internship. Food was not bad but super ex! A simple set lunch consisting of a plate of fried noodles and a drink cost us about 18francs EACH. A bottle of coke costs 2.90francs. Gosh. The other side of the town was the New Town where all the luxury shops and expensive restaurants are.

Went back to our hostel and checked in at 2+. Our room was FANTASTIC! It's comparable to a boutique hotel's room! We were given an attic room, with sunroofs and a nice toilet and bed... heavenly! Took a nap after settling in. Went back to the New Town for dinner at this popular restaurant for Swiss food. Warm ambience and food, beer and dessert was great. Had sausages with a very nice potato salad and chocolate mousse. Bill came up t0 74francs. That's like SGD99.90. But worth it for the experience and great food and service. I think. Hee.

Ok really gonna crash already. Going to Interlaken tomorrow morning. Nite!
